Dear God,
I am writing to ask that through your grace and the efforts of your Holy Spirits that the dark minds of the wicked and selfish be turned toward the light of goodness, love, and compassion. I ask that you give us world leaders and governments that are driven by a strong desire for the happiness, health, and well-being of their people and by a strong desire for a peaceful world.
I realize that transformation is a very slow process and that sometimes it is only through great suffering that change takes place; that sometimes it is only through great injustice that justice can finally be achieved; that sometimes it is only through darkness that the search for light and truth begins.
It appears that you have set into motion circumstances to motivate us to change as individuals and as a civilization. You have pointed the way, but I understand that it is up to each of us to contribute to the creation of a better world for ourselves.
I pray with all my heart that the majority of us will hear your call and respond to adversity, not with anger, aggression, or grasping, but rather with equanimity and a strong desire to help one another get through the trials and tribulations we face, and to find lasting happiness through continuing acts of love and compassion.
I am and forever will be your devoted servant.

Lovely Blair. You are right, He has started to claim back His world and as you say, there is to be much for us all to go through and it isn;t going to be nice at all. Much has already started and been seen, but so much more to come as most people refuse to admit it is God’s hand doing much of what they see and their refusal to admit they too need to change – we all do. Lovely prayer x

I would love to see a lot of people reading this as it is a prayer that needs to be said often and by as many people as possible in this day and age. It expresses so much of that for which we all hope and pray.

Thank you very much Blair for sharing this inspirational letter to God. I have always been an avid letter writer and lament that this vital form of communication and expression is being lost. INdeed, I might write my kids a letter. They’re both in their rooms on electronics at the moment aged 12 and 10. I’ll probably get them thrown back at me but you never know. I might actually get a nice reply and get something started.
I am currently writing letters to dead poets, which I think would be right up your alley. They’ve become quite a philosophical and spirit journey. Anyway, it’s been great meeting you!

Rowena,
Many thanks for your comment. The Letter to God can just as well be said as a prayer – one that needs to said widely and often given the current state of the world. I really liked your blog on Winnie the Poo et al. I’ll check out the links. Thanks!

Thanks very much, Blair. I wrote a post about The Door’s front man Jim Morrison and his death in Paris. i visited his grave when I was there back in 1992 and it was huge. This post looks at seekers and the spiritual quest. xx Rowena
